HK Day Two, Part II!

Tuesday, July 29, 2008

And so the last HK entry ended with us eating some fabulous green tea red bean bun on our way to Wan Chai, from Causeway Bay!

Walking, walking, and searching!

For lunch we were seriously bent on getting some dim sum!!! After a day (on the first day) and a half of searching for dim sums but in vain, we decided to ask the locals! A kind duo walked us to this 酒家 Foo Lum Group, it was considered lunch time and the place was packed! Nevertheless, we went in and ordered! By the way, it isn’t so easy to find dim sum like we always thought, strange huh? Infact I think the HK cafés in Singapore have a more impressive menu than over there. HK cafés in SG are sort of overdone giving you a too good impression, only to make you slightly disappointed when you’re in Hong Kong. Nevertheless, some of food does taste better in HK, for example, the Har Kow!!!

The lunch went slightly wrong, with two of our 'important' orders ended lost in transition, and our 'mistake' orders coming instead... let the pictures do the talking...

"爱在点心桌上"... Ha. Trying to create some Taiwan drama bull. I look ghastly in all picts thru out the trip was I was simply so dead tired!!!

Char Siew Chee Cheong Fun, not sure why the skin was super duper sticky and starchy, gets jelat after awhile... but the overall taste was good though!

Char Siew Sou - personally, I loved it! Very tasty insides, ZQ didn't find it fantastic however. BTW, Chee Cheong Fun and Char Siew Sou are his two fav dim sum items!!!

Yummy!!!

The error thingy which was oily... one more deep fried thing came as well and by the end of it I was moody!!! YES I KNOW I'M DAMN ATTITUDE, but I can't help getting upset after an oily fare!!! I got this blardy problem. *Pouts*

The wet tissue with a pretty HK roast pict to tempt you!

Without much delay, we proceeded to Queen’s Road Central. Now how can you leave HK without patronizing H & M (Hennes & Mauritz)??? If you don't already know this brand, you should!!! Especially if you're planning on visiting HK soon and want to pick up some affordable office wear or casual stuff! It's like Zara + Forever 21 + Topshop all in one but with lots of cheap cheap cheap barang! I was really puzzled previously as to WHY my friends go mad over H & M, and now I know. Do you really want to know too? Then go!!!

Totally guilty! Spent more than an hour picking, trying and screaming about the good bargains. The designs are nice and it is so much cheaper than Zara lor!!! ZQ was obviously turned off because I spent so much time (and money) there!!! But what do you expect, seriously? How could I not hyperventilate when presented with cheap and pretty clothes??? They have ladies, men's kids and maternity I think. As for ZQ he bought only one top... cos I think nothing much he fancies? Actually sometimes I am just super glad to be girl!!! More choices!!! Stupid bitch/bimbo I'am.

When we finally exited from H & M (ZQ: PHEW) and back to Mongkok! But on the way we browsed the little streets, Li Yuen Street was one of them, and ZQ got a cheap tie (HKD25.00) with atas material for his friend! Such a steal! And the little pasar malam store, manned by an old man looked so cute with nothing but colorful ties!

HK Island (besides H & M) seriously does not beat TST and Mongkok. We finished up there and headed back there!!!

Random shots as we went... the standard Prince Edward station lor, what else???

Nice... I still dig the streets of HK, clutter but lovely nonetheless.

Hygiene? Doubtful. Business? Not bad!!!

The streets slowly light up...

A seriously unintentional shot but so MTV lorz!!! ZQ where are you going??? I love this pict a hell lot!!! I think it's perfect if I make it into a poster =)

As promised I got to go back to my beloved Argyle Centre!!! I went crazy, for the second time! You must be really sick of hearing me say that. Bought many super duper ultra uber cheap clothes that are like the pretty stuff at Far East but only a quarter or a third of the price!!! WTF!!! The vulgarities I hurled were vulgarities or joy, not anger!!!!!!!!! Damn cheap!!!!!!!!! I was so excited I never take picts of H & M, Argyle Centre or Sino Centre!!! WTH!!! Sorry about that! No wonder there's only a chunk of words you're reading here!!

After that I was balrdy exhausted... frankly getting excited burns hell alot of calories and I was seriously FLUSHED OUT... if ZQ wasn't here to carry my shopping I would be flat on the floor.

We then moved on, after searching high and low, to the legendary SINO CENTRE!!! The place with about 6 levels of small shops selling comics, toys and many collectibles!!! Obviously, ZQ enjoyed this part, so did I, because there were so many food toys!!! Despite feeling rather dead I was perked up instantly!!! And cute little knick and knacks!!! I got a box of one of Rement’s latest collectables at like a third of the price you can find in SG!!! Argghhhhhhhhhhh!!! Till today I can’t believe it!!!

I do realize that I’m over-using the exclamation marks but seriously, I have to show you the extend of my excitement on Day 2.

And you do also realize that we didn't really food hunt or eat much, another point that pissed ZQ off. I’m quite selfish when it comes to these things, but I just could not miss shopping at any point!!! Because of this fact, he doesn’t wanna go Taiwan with me anymore!!! Why? Cos I only care about shopping and not so much about food! I think I crave more when in SG (think: all my bakery, sweets etc indulgences). I’m such a pain!!! But men and women think differently!

Again dinner was super late thanks to my "I go see this shop for a while", did I realize that if I said that sentence 10 times it would mean a LONG while not a short while??? LOL and sigh. Anyhow, it was time to eat!!!

This little eatery we stumbled upon. Steamed snacks displayed outside.

Inside, very super small place!!!

The super 'steamy' kitchen...

Porridge which we shared! It's a bowl of fishy something porridge, recommended by one of the ladies there... Quite nice but still don’t know which part of the fish are those ball ball stuff! Again, very giam... I need water!!!

Saw an ol skool ice cream van!!! Wah I want!!!!!!!!! I mean the van. The basic ice cream is only a like dunno 70cents or a dollar (SGD), cheap like hell!!!

Humans EVERY fucking where... like I said, it's like there's no work or school the following day... the human traffic wins the cars.

In case you're wondering how can we only have one bowl of porridge for dinner, you're wrong!!! FYI, we planned to eat more at Ngan Lung again, no choice, too nice already!!!

The same red bean drink again because it’s fucking nice!!!!!!!! I really do miss it!!!

Sweet and sour meat! I found it nice but ZQ thought otherwise! I think maybe cos I'm more easily satisfied, food wise? If I say something tastes bad, you really better believe me...

Another plate of fried noodles! They certainly do not go easy on the salt, but their ingredients are all in huge pieces! Try buying zi char in SG or go to those canto restaurants to order fried noodles. See how pathetically they chop up the ingredients. Ngan Lung is certainly not like that!!!! (char siew big big piece)

Overview... just more shots to delight you viewers! <3 <3 <3

And on the way back to hotel I saw more shops and bought more clothes!!! I couldn’t resist!!! Too cheap!!! HORRIBLE LA ME.

And back in the hotel room I was mortified at how our 'baggage' increased so much just after another day.

Playing with the money, they all look so foreign to me! How I wish I really print money. I need more money to fund my shopping! No money liao... and ZQ won't give me his share!!!

All the red notes!!!

Sheet mask for us! =) Expression was made on purpose, this is the kinda look I will give you if you deny me of my shopping!!!!!!!! After having the mask on I started to feel sick. The fatigue and unhealthy eating was taking a toll! ZQ peeled off the mask and cleaned my face while I slept with lots of medicated oil!!!

And Day 3 was coming, we (okay maybe just me) were gonna eat, shop and see more!!! can't afford to get sick!!
